Man Charged With Felony Theft of Baby Food

The items had a value of $328. An arrest is merely an accusation, not a conviction.


Robert L. Williams, 57, of the 3400 block of West Franklin, Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft after a store security agent observed him on surveillance video placing cans of baby formula into his black backpack on Sept. 2 at 10:15 a.m., according to the report. The security agent recognized him from a previous incident. As the person began to exit the store without paying, the agent chased the suspect and tackled him in the business' foyer. The agent determined the suspect took 17 cans of Enfamil, worth $328. His court date is Oct. 9 in Skokie.

Man accelerates in front of police, charged with DUI

Peter D. Pantel, 27, of Glenview was charged with DUI Sept. 23 at 2:15 a.m. A Niles police officer who was on another traffic stop saw him accelerate to a fast speed, according to the report. The officer pulled Pantel's car over and smelled the odor of alcohol on Pantel's breath. He showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests, the report said. His court date is Oct. 31 in the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.
