Village Announces Balanced Budget for 2012

Public hearing will be held regarding the budget at the next village board meeting on Dec. 12.

Village trustees were pleased to announce a balanced budget for 2012 at last nightโ€™s Morton Grove Village Board meeting.

โ€œI just want to stress for our residents, that we had a balanced budget again for 2012,โ€ said Trustee Maria Toth. โ€œIโ€™d like to thank our department heads and staff for all of their hard work.โ€

Next yearโ€™s expenditures for the Village of Morton Grove total $53,551,475 and the Morton Grove Public Libraryโ€™s budget totals $3,154,901.

Decrease in Tax Levy

The board also announced a 1.03 percent decrease in tax levy for Morton Grove residents in 2012. Total amount of levy before abatement amounts to $17,874,228. However, the village plans to adopt a series of resolutions which will โ€œimmediately abateโ€ $5,231,265 from the levy.

Morton Groveโ€™s budget was originally presented at a workshop held on Oct. 25 and revised from there. A public hearing on the 2012 budget will be held during the next village board meeting on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Richard T. Flickinger Municipal Center.
