Wallet, iPod Stolen at Car Wash, Police Say

Niles police responded to a car wash in the 900 block of Civic Center Drive Oct. 1 at about 3:40 p.m., and a 37-year-old man told them that while cleaning his car in the self-serve vacuum area of the car wash, he had placed his floor mats, wallet and iPod outside his car. Because one vacuum was not working, he moved is car to another cleaning station, and when he returned, he found his wallet (containing $10), iPod 5 and floor mats were gone, according to the report.

Driver charged with DUI had no insurance, police sayย 

Woong Wee, 24, of the 2900 block of S. King Drive, Chicago, was charged with DUI Oct. 11 just after 1 a.m. in the 6900 block of Oakton.

A Niles police officer driving eastbound on Oaktonย observed a black vehicle behind him, and could see the driver was having driving difficulty, according to the report.ย The officer allowed the black Infiniti to pass, then stopped the driver and smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath, the report indicated; the driver showed impairment on field sobriety tests. He was cited with improper lane usage, DUI and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. His court date is Nov. 15 at the Skokie branch of the Cook County courts.ย
