16 Separate Car Burglaries Reported In 1 Night: Northbrook Police Blotter
Police said in all the cases, the cars had been left unlocked.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
- Victor A. Mondragon Estrada, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 3:31 p.m. Oct. 24, at Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard. A court date of Nov. 24 was assigned.
- Bayanmunkh Darinchuluum, of Northbrook, is accused of a felony account of driving while license suspended, having a suspended registration, and was arrested at 11:55 a.m. Oct. 27, in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. A court date of Oct. 29 was assigned.

Daquilema Manguia, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 3:40 p.m. Oct. 26, in the 1500 block of Willow Road and Founders Drive. A court date of Nov. 24 was assigned.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Wilson E. Rivera, of Deerfield, is accused of driving under the influence, disobeying a red light, speeding, and was arrested at 11:12 p.m. Oct. 30, at Dundee Road and Anthony Trail. A court date of Nov. 19 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
BURGLARY TO VEHICLES
- A witness saw someone break into two vehicles and take several items at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 24, at a fitness center in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard. The person ran to a dark-colored Lincoln and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The owners of the two vehicles said the person took money, credit cards, and sunglasses from the vehicles.
- Police reported at 4 a.m. Oct. 25, that they had responded to 16 separate burglaries to vehicle reports throughout the village. All the vehicles that were attacked had been unlocked. The items stolen were cash and other small items.
STOLEN VEHICLES
In two separate incidents, residents in the 1000 block of Cedar Lane and 1100 block of Meadow Road reported at 6:48 a.m. Oct. 25, that their cars had been stolen from their driveways. Both vehicles had been left unlocked, with the keys left inside. One of the vehicles, a 2024 grey Kia, was recovered in the 11000 block of S. Hermosa Avenue in Chicago.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
An officer saw a 2008 black Infiniti traveling at a high rate of speed at 3:34 a.m. Oct. 26, at Anthony Trail and Dundee Road. The officer measured the vehicle's speed at 100 mph in a 40 mph zone. The officer activated his emergency lights, but the vehicle fled. Minutes later, the Riverwoods Police Department found the vehicle abandoned on Lake Cook Road. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
ONLINE SCAM
- A resident reported at 10:49 a.m. Oct. 27, that someone had texted him regarding investing money in cryptocurrency. Thinking the person had a legitimate business, At first, the complainant thought the person had a legitimate business. They sent $250,000 to $300,000 to the account created by the online person. When he tried to withdraw some of his invested money, he was told the account was under audit, and he could not retrieve his money any longer. The resident tried several times to reach out to the person, but never could get them to release his money. The complainant believed he had been scammed.
- An El Cid Lane resident reported at 12:28 p.m. Oct. 27, she was having issues with her online television subscription. When she looked up the provider on the internet, she found a phone number and called them. The person on the phone told her there was a billing issue, and she needed to purchase 16 $350 Target gift cards for them to fix the issue. The complainant followed the instructions and provided the person with the gift card numbers once she paid for them. When the complainant noticed the television was not fixed, she knew she had called the wrong phone number and had been scammed.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE
A citizen reported at 4:04 p.m. Oct. 27, that she had parked her vehicle in a different parking spot than she normally parks in the 3100 block of Pheasant Creek Drive. When she came back to her vehicle, she noticed someone had written lettering on her driver’s side window. The complainant tried to remove the letters but had no success, and it appeared to be permanent.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A citizen reported at 1:26 p.m. Oct. 29, seeing a male urinating on her neighbor's driveway while standing next to his vehicle in the 2100 block of Maple Avenue. The citizen yelled at the male, who then asked if they were going to call the police, to which they said yes. He eventually fled the area prior to the officer’s arrival.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 2600 block of Woodland Drive reported at 2:40 p.m. Oct. 29, that they had left their house at 10:30 a.m. that morning. When they returned home at 1:45 p.m., they noticed the house had been burglarized. It appeared the person had entered the residence through a rear sliding glass door. The items stolen were purses, jewelry and $7,500.
