Arrest Made In Hit-And-Run That Killed Pedestrian: Northbrook PD

Police said a "thorough investigation" led to an arrest from the incident in May.

NORTHBROOK, IL — An arrest has been made in a fatal hit-and-run incident that killed a pedestrian earlier this year. Bigi C. Mani, of Des Plaines, is being charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash that left a 69-year-old Northbrook man dead.

Mani was arrested Thursday at his home following what Northbrook police called a "thorough investigation." He is due in court on Sept. 22.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Michael Sirotzki died from multiple blunt force injuries.

The Northbrook police and fire departments responded to an incident in the 2900 block of Shermer Road during the early morning hours of May 1. Police found Sirotzki at the address. It was later discovered that a 2014 black Acura, driven by Mani, had struck him and then fled the scene.
