NORTHBROOK, IL — We asked Northbrook Patch readers this week to give us their best ice cream place recommendations. And the results on your favorite spots are now in.

Dairy Queen was the top vote-getter in our reader's poll that ran from last Friday through Thursday. Next up were Graeter's Ice Cream and Baskin-Robbins.

Dairy Queen, located at 2770 Dundee Road, is one of more than 7,000 locations in the United States. The first Dairy Queen opened in 1940 in Joliet.

Readers taking our poll raved about the creamy ice cream, affordable prices and variety of options at Dairy Queen.

"Clean environment, machines well maintained, and they have the friendliest staff," wrote one reader.

Another reader said, "Their community involvement is the best! That alone is why I go to their establishment. Jenn and her family are amazing at working with the teens in our town.
