Downed Power Lines Close Northbrook Street, Garbage Pick-Up Delayed
A portion of Orchard Lane is closed to all traffic Friday morning, while hundreds of people are without power due to the storm.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A portion of Orchard Lane is closed Friday morning due to downed power lines, while hundreds of people are currently without power across the village as a winter snowstorm continues to pound Chicagoland.
Police said just before 10 a.m. that Orchard Lane, both the road and sidewalks, is closed between Maple Avenue and Walters Avenue. Residents are being advised to avoid the area and find an alternate route.

Meanwhile, ComEd is reporting hundreds of Northbrook resident are currently without power. As of 9 a.m. Friday, ComEd announced over 100,000 customers throughout Chicagoland were without power due to heavy and blowing snow.
In addition, the Village said in a social media post, garbage pickup may be delayed as Waste Management has pulled its trucks off the streets. While a recovery plan will be shared with residents, they are advised to "pull their cans from the curb at this time."

At 9 a.m., the Village instituted a parking ban on Village streets due to the snowfall. Any vehicles parked on Village streets while this ban is in effect are now subject to fines and towing.
Police are also asking motorists involved in minor crashes with both vehicles are in a drivable state, with only minor damage, to exchange driver's information and drive to the police station to complete a crash report.
Due to the snowy conditions, Waste Management decided to pull their residential trucks off the streets for Friday, January 12.
