Drunken Driver Seen Mixing Drinks Behind The Wheel In Parking Lot: Northbrook Police Blotter
Police found an open bottle of vodka in the car when they pulled over the Northbrook woman.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
Alexandra Lopez, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 12:47 p.m. Sept. 26, at Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard. A court date of Oct. 21 was assigned.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
- Eduardo A. Ybarro Gonzalez, of Prospect Heights, is accused of driving while license suspended, having defective headlights, and was arrested at 6:21 p.m. Sept. 26, at Dundee Road and Anthony Trail. A court date of Nov. 5 was assigned.
- Ariel A. Muro Avila, of Northfield, is accused of driving on a suspended license, having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 3:52 a.m. Sept. 30, at Willow Road and Founders Drive. A court date of Oct. 16 was assigned.
- Samuel Salgado Barrera, of Aurora, is accused of having a suspended driver's license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 10:02 a.m. Sept. 30 at Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard. A court date of Oct. 21 was assigned.

- Gustavo Reyes-Mella of Round Lake Beach, is accused of driving under the influence, disobeying a red light, and was arrested at 10:31 p.m. Sept. 27, at Landwehr and Highland roads. Police said Reyes-Mella rolled a red light with his 2021 black Kia before stopping in the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic. An officer stopped him, saying he appeared intoxicated and refused to exit the vehicle. Another officer assisted getting Reyes-Mella out of the car as he was having a hard time standing up, according to police. A court date of Oct. 23 was assigned.
- Elizabeth Hamilton, of Northbrook, is accused of DUI, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .008 or more, and was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Sept. 29, in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road. Police had responded to a parking lot due to a report of a driver mixing alcoholic drinks while behind the wheel of a car. Police found a bottle of open vodka, and Hamilton appeared to be intoxicated. A court date of Oct. 29 was assigned.
ILLEGAL DUMPING
James D. McNitt, Jr., of Winnetka, is accused of illegal dumping of garbage, and was arrested at 7:16 a.m. Sept. 29, in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard. The complainant had found around 15 yards worth of garbage illegally dumped in their business' dumpster. While looking through the contents, the employee found paperwork from McNitt, Jr., linking him to the illegal garbage. The officer spoke to him, and he admitted to the illegal dumping. A court date of Oct. 23 was assigned.
FAILING TO APPEAR WARRANT
Jose D. Flores, Of Pingree Grove, had a warrant out of DuPage County for failing to appear in court on traffic charges, and was arrested at 2:29 p.m. Oct. 1, at Landwehr Road and Walters Avenue. A witness saw a white box truck with its rear door open. The witness said the pallets in the back of the truck appeared to be almost falling out. The officer stopped the truck and spoke to the driver, Flores. He was taken to DuPage County Jail following his arrest.

INCIDENTS
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
The staff noticed at 9:11 a.m. Sept. 26, that someone had ridden a motorized bike on the Northbrook Park District's bicycle track in the 1500 block of Maple Avenue during nighttime hours. The person had left severe rubber tracks from sliding the tires throughout the surface of the track, causing damage to it.
COMPUTER HACKING
An employee of a construction company in the 100 block of Revere Drive reported at 10:46 a.m. Sept. 26, that several employees had reported discrepancies in their payroll. After checking the payroll software, it appeared someone had hacked into the payroll and installed malware. The malware caused several employees' paychecks to be routed to different accounts than originally setup. The total loss is $25,558.50.
THEFT
A resident of the 1500 block of Windy Hill Drive reported on Sept. 26, that a national delivery service attempted to deliver a package to him on Sept. 17. Since no one was home and a signature was required for the package, the driver left and parked down the street. Someone then approached the driver and lied to him, saying he was the homeowner of the package he had just tried delivering. The driver, without checking the person's identification, handed them the package. The complainant said the stolen package contained clothing and a $5,000 Rolex watch.
RETAIL THEFT
The staff at a pharmacy retail store reported on Sept. 29 that two days prior, a male had walked into the store in the 900 block of Willow Road and over to the liquor aisle. He concealed five Grey Goose Vodka bottles into his backpack. He then then walked out of the store without paying. The total loss was $364.95.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Ferndale Avenue resident reported at 12:54 p.m. Sept. 29, being contacted by a collections group indicating he had bills that were past due from Verizon Wireless in the amount of $9,612. The complainant had never opened an account with Verizon and later learned someone used his information illegally to open an account and get cell phone service.
FORGERY
- A Pheasant Creek Drive reported on Sept. 30 that at some time in July, someone had forged fake checks against her checking account. A total of $14,890 was illegally withdrawn from the account using the fake checks.
- The staff of a grocery store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1, two males had come into the store on two different dates. The pair had tried paying for gift cards with fake $100 bills. The first employee didn’t notice the fake bill and accepted it as payment. The second employee on the different date noticed the fake $100 bill and refused to accept it. The person asked why, but took his fake money and left the store. After reviewing the surveillance cameras, it appeared the two were together on both dates.
