Drunken Driver Swerves Off Roadway, Hits Tree: Northbrook Police Blotter
The Northbrook resident was charged with driving too fast for conditions, DUI alcohol/drugs, uninsured motor vehicle, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
Diancy Y. Moreno, of Clarendon Hills, is accused of having a suspended registration, driving while license suspended, operation of uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Nov. 7, at Willow Road and Patriot Boulevard. She was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 11.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE AUTO CRASH
Nayan V. Patel, of Northbrook, is accused of driving too fast for conditions, driving under the influence, DUI drugs/alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Nov. 8, at Founders and Kensington drives. Northbrook police and fire responded to an injury auto crash where a 2020 blue BMW, driven by Patel, had swerved off the roadway and hit a tree. Police said Patel had minor injuries and found empty alcoholic beverages inside the car. A court date of Dec. 11 was assigned.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Terrace B. Klavsons, of Lake Forest, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 12:05 p.m. Nov. 12, in the 4100 block of Dundee Road. Police had responded to a fitness center regarding the Klavsons. The staff said Klavsons was intimidating them to procure free drinks. Klavsons was given a no trespass order. A court date of Jan. 5, 2026, was assigned.

INCIDENTS
INVESTMENT SCAM
A Brentwood Road resident reported at 12:20 p.m. Nov. 7, that he had found out about an investment group through Whats App. This investment group guaranteed a 45 percent return within 10 days. After investing $180,247.27, he tried looking at his account, but $180,000 was missing from it. The complainant has tried contacting the original people that signed him up for investment, but he cannot get a hold of them.
CHECK FRAUD
The owner of a rented condo in the 100 block of Trailwood Lane reported at 12:41 p.m. Nov. 7, his renter has always sent the rent money through a bank check via US mail. When the complainant didn’t receive his payments for September and October, he called the renter. The renter confirmed the bank sent the complainant the checks, but it appeared they were stolen during transit of US mail. An unknown person cashed the checks through the U.S. Bank with someone posing as the complainant. The total loss was $6,000.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A citizen reported at 6:04 p.m. Nov. 7, her friend had left her Michael Kors wallet in the center console of their vehicle while at work. The vehicle was left unlocked. An unknown person opened the unlocked Hyundai and stole the wallet. The wallet contained credit cards and gift cards.
THEFT
A citizen reported at 1:41 p.m. Nov. 8, that when he arrived at his fitness center in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard to exercise, he had placed his Rolex watch valued at $11,000 in the locker but was unsure if it was locked or unlocked. When he returned to his locker, the watch was stolen.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
Police saw a stolen 2015 silver Chrysler parked at 12:38 p.m. Nov. 9, in a parking lot at Dundee and Waukegan roads. The vehicle had been stolen from the City of Waukegan on Nov. 8. When the officers activated their emergency lights, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. The driver disobeyed a stop sign and reached speeds of 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, before fleeing Northbrook.
STOLEN AUTO/FRAUD
The management staff of an auto dealership in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 3:02 p.m. Nov. 10, a towing company had arrived to pick up a purchased 2026 white Cadillac Escalade. At first, the paperwork looked all in order. After the towing company left to deliver it to the Chicago customer, the staff realized the paperwork was fraudulent. They contacted the towing company, who was unaware of the crime. The driver of the tow truck said he dropped the vehicle off with a person in the 3100 block of S. Central Park Ave of Chicago. The Chicago Police Department was notified of the crime, but they couldn’t find the vehicle in that area.
