Halloween Pet Parade, 3K Fun Run Make Spooky Return To Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — It's that spooky time of year, with fun events planned for local residents and their furry friends. The annual Pet Parade and 3K Fun Run/Walk, offered by the Northbrook Park District, is planned for Oct. 25 at Techny Prairie Park and Fields, 1750 Techny Road.

The pet parade will take place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., concluding with a costume contest, including best look-alike pet, best pet and owner combo costume, and the spookiest animal. Winners will go home with pet-friendly goodies.

Registration for the pet parade is $10, and available here. Registrants must be 18 and over to register.

"This event is one of my favorites," Northbrook Park District Recreation Supervisor Matt Papale said. "Getting to see all of the pets in unique and fun costumes is a blast."

Rover’s Place, Hollywood Feed and J. Blanton Plumbing are the event’s presenting sponsors.

The fun doesn't end with the parade as there will be on-leash activities with vendor booths, pup cups and a doggie pumpkin patch.

Following the parade, attendees can keep their costumes on and lace up their sneakers for the Halloween 3K Fun Run/Walk, taking place at 6 p.m. The course runs through Techny Prairie Park, which will be decked out with Halloween decorations.

After the race, attendees can feast on bananas, squeezable snacks, bagels and cream cheese, and, of course, candy. Children can enjoy Halloween-themed activities.

There will also be awards for best overall costume for youths and adults, the best group costume, the scariest costume and the most creative costume.

four.

Bag and T-shirt pick up will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Techny Prairie Activity Center, 180 Anets Drive. T-Shirts are not guaranteed for those who register after Oct. 23.

Registration will be accepted in person on the day of the event, up until race time, at Techny Prairie Activity Center.
