Hello, Northbrook: Epic Burger Opens New Location In CEO's Hometown

Epic Burger, located at Willow Festival, will hold a special opening celebration Saturday for local customers and beyond.

NORTHBROOK, IL — David Grossman knows Northbrook. The Glenbrook North graduate also knows burgers. With Epic Burger recently opening a location at Willow Festival, Grossman, the company's CEO, is excited to share the chain's "mindful" burgers with the North Shore.

"I went to Wescott, Maple and Glenbrook North. I worked at Mario's Pizza and learned so much from so many people in this great town," Grossman tells Patch. "I still live on the North Shore and wanted to celebrate this acquisition with a homecoming of sorts and share the occasion with many lifelong friends and family members."

The acquisition Grossman refers to is Epic Burger buying Meatheads and its six Chicagoland locations last year. The business plan for the merger is to convert the restaurants into Epic Burger locations, and for Grossman, there's no better place to start the process than his hometown.

"The Northbrook business community is very tight and very involved, and we are happy to be a part of it," Grossman said. "We look forward to getting more involved with the Chamber, hosting events and provide our caterings for home/office gatherings. We also look forward to getting involved with all the schools and organizations within each school."

Saturday's celebration will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1036H Willow Road. Among the specials on the day are:

Epic Burger Northbrook officially opened its doors on Feb. 5, with regular store hours, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Grossman said his restaurants stand out from the completion in many ways, starting with the food.

"We only serve high quality ingredients. Our beef comes from Creekstone Farms. Our buns are baked daily from Turano Baking," Grossman said. "Our cheese is premium Wisconsin cheese. Our eggs are cage-free Our produce is grown and sourced locally. Our milk and ice cream are premium and more."

While burgers are clearly a big deal at Epic, don't short-change the restaurant's chicken sandwiches, tenders, fries, and shakes. Find the Epic Burger complete menu here.

Epic Burger opened its first in location in Chicago in 2008. Sixteen years later, Grossman says another way his restaurants are different is their energy-efficient design. He also notes source packaging is biodegradable. Giving back to their employees with promotion coming from within is also important to Grossman, as is getting involved in each community that has an Epic Burger restaurant.

In addition to the Northbrook location, there are Epic Burger restaurants in Skokie and Evanston, along with three in Chicago (Lincoln Park, Gold Coast and South Loop). According to Grossman, whose parents were also raised in Chicago, expect more Epic Burger restaurants in a "great Midwestern state where people appreciate quality food and service." He said the company is currently looking at sites in Rockford, Jolliet, Vernon Hills, Arlington Heights, Orland Park and Springfield, among others.
