ROTARIANS AT WORK – COLLECTING WARM COATS FOR THOSE IN NEED
Your help is needed to collect 2,000 Coats
The temperatures are dropping, and it’s warm-coat weather. For over a decade, the Rotary of Northbrook has been helping our communities stay warm during the winter with its annual "Coat Off Your Back" collection drive.

This drive has expanded over the past few years to include the Glenview Sunrise and Deerfield Clubs. This is the spirit of “Rotarians in Action” in the growing endeavor focused on collecting winter coats for many in need.
The coat-drive will be able to provide winter coats for infants, children, teens, and adults via multiple outlets serving people in need from homeless, to veterans, displaced families, and elderly.

“Our goal is to encourage the community to repurpose their gently used coats as they shop for new things this season. New items are welcomed as well.” states Rick Rosenfeld, coordinator of the initiative. “Coats for school aged children are a big need so that they can safely walk to classes. Teens are often forgotten and they need coats too.”
Donations bins are throughout the communities November 1st; all locations and updates will be posted on the Rotary club websites and Facebook pages.
"We know there are many heavy coats in people’s closets that are no longer being used, so if area residents take a few moments to check for those that could benefit from a new owner, we would be grateful." Rosenfeld said.
Here are a few drop off site to note: Northbrook Village Hall; Northbrook Chamber of Commerce; American Weathermakers; North Suburban YMCA; Northbrook Library; Sunset Foods; Northbrook United Methodist Church. If you have kids – their schools may also have drop locations.
Don’t forget to bring a coat to Illuminate on November 21 in Village Green. You will receive a commemorative Illuminate Mug from the Village when you donate at the Rotary Hot Cocoa Tent, while supplies last.
The Two Men and a Truck team is again a partner in this effort, transporting coats across the greater Chicagoland area and will be onsite with “Truckie” to meet the kids.
Your donation can make a difference in someone’s life. We thank you in advance for helping us reach an important goal.
