The closures, part of an 18-month strategy to scale back on brick-and-mortar locations, were included in a released earnings report.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Following last week's announcement it was closing roughly 60 brick-and-mortar locations this year, Kroger's included some of those stores in a quarterly earnings report released Friday. The parent company of Mariano's said the following stores are closing:

  • Mariano's, 450 W. Half Day Road, Buffalo Grove, closes Aug. 8.
  • Mariano's, 144 S. Gary Ave., Bloomingdale, closes on Aug. 15.
  • Mariano's Glenview West, 2323 Capital Dr., Northbrook closes on Aug. 22.

NBC Chicago reports a fourth Mariano's will close in Northfield, at 1822 Willow Road. The Northfield store is set to shut down operations on Friday reports The Record North Shore.

In the major chain's first quarter earnings report, which was released on Friday, Kroger said it recognized an impairment charge of $100 million related to the planned store closings. The company expects a "modest financial benefit" after the closures.
