Man Sleeping Next To Dumpster Had Active Arrest Warrant: Northbrook Police Blotter

Police said the Chicago man had an active arrest warrant out of Lake County for theft and was taken to the Lake County Jail.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Tyrek J. Warren, of Chicago, is accused of speeding, driving while license suspended, having a suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 6:22 a.m. Aug. 2, in the 800 block of Dundee Road. A court date of Aug. 22 was assigned.
  • Gulmera Nazar, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended driver's license, driving while suspended, and was arrested at 9:32 p.m. Aug. 2, at Willow and Pfingsten roads. A court date of Aug. 22 was assigned.
  • Dymahdi A. Johnson, of Chicago, is accused of driving on a suspended license, had two active arrest warrants out of the St. Charles Police Department and DuPage County Sheriff's Office, and was arrested at 8:43 p.m. Aug. 3, in the 900 block of Dundee Road. Police said she was able to provide bail for the two warrants and received new court dates. A court date of Sept. 17 was assigned for the new charge in Northbrook.

Juan A. Felipe, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 3 p.m. Aug. 2, at Dundee Road and Western Avenue. A court date of Sept. 17 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

James G. Lopez, of Chicago, is accused of improper lane usage, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, unlawful transportation of open cannabis, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 12:04 a.m. Aug. 3, at Landwehr and Dundee roads. A court date of Aug. 29 was assigned.

RECKLESS DRIVING

Deep B. Amin, of Des Plaines, is accused of reckless speeding (90 mph in a 45 mph zone), speeding 35+ mph over the speed limit, failure to signal lane changes, and was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Aug. 5, at Willow Road and Patriot Boulevard. A court date of Sept. 12 was assigned.

THEFT

Scott J. Miller, of Chicago, was found sleeping next to a garbage dumpster at 9 p.m. Aug. 6, in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. Police discovered Miller had an active arrest warrant out of Lake County for theft. He was taken to the Lake County Jail.

INCIDENTS

COMPUTER SCAM

An Oak Avenue resident reported at 11:44 a.m. Aug. 1, they had received an email from PayPal indicating they had been scammed out of money. They called the associated phone number on the email and spoke to an agent that said they needed to withdraw money from their account and place it into a Bitcoin machine to correct the matter. The complainants followed the instructions and deposited $28,000 into a Bitcoin machine. They later realized it was a scam, and they could not retrieve their money.

BANK FRAUD

A Happ Road resident reported at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 2, that someone had been illegally accessing his three of his bank accounts to make unauthorized withdrawals. The total amount stolen was $2,000.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

A citizen reported at 6:43 p.m. Aug. 3, that someone had scratched and dented his 2019 white Mini Cooper with a sharp object in the 3100 block of Moon Hill Drive. The scratches are approximately 14 inches long on the rear passenger door.

WEBSITE SCAM

An Alice Drive resident reported at 2:20 p.m. Aug. 4, he had used computer websites to register for global entry. He thought he clicked on a legitimate website that requested his information and $300.80 to complete the entry. After the transaction went through, the complainant realized the website was a fake site and he was scammed out of the money.

PHONE SCAM

A Prestbury Court resident called police at 3:55 p.m. Aug. 4, to report he had received a pop-up on his phone indicating he had been charged unlawfully on his Apple account. He was provided with a phone number to call, which he did. The alleged agent talked him through a process to withdraw his bank account money and put it into Bitcoin accounts to protect himself. The complainant followed the requested instructions and transferred $10,000 into these Bitcoin accounts. The complainant later learned he had been scammed out of that money.

THEFT OF LICENSE PLATES

A citizen reported at 2:25 p.m. Aug. 5, that he had parked his 2013 black Toyota in front of a store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. When he returned from shopping, he noticed his rear license plate had been stolen from his vehicle.

THEFT OF PACKAGES

A resident in the 1100 block of Longmeadow Drive called police at 2:47 p.m. Aug. 5, to report he had ordered several vehicle parts, which were delivered by a national delivery service to his front porch. When he arrived at his porch, the packages had already been stolen. The total loss was $2,644.10.
