A Peace Pole is a monument that displays the message May Peace Prevail On Earth in the language of the country where it is placed plus others.
The message May Peace Prevail On Earth was authored by the late Masahisa Goi of Japan after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
It is an affirmation of peace, and its placement furthers Rotary's goal of building a culture of peace throughout the world. Peace Poles are intended to inspire unity among people of all cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

On Sunday September 21, the International Day of Peace takes place Noon all time zones. In Northbrook we will be celebrating Shermerfest at the Village Green Park: the Rotary Club of Northbrook will be there with the RILEE Iron Lung, a coloring map of Northbrook to find the "newly planted" peace poles! We encourage families to stop by, find out about Rotary, grab a map to locate the Northbrook Peace Poles.
In Northbrook-among three locations you will find: English, Korean, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Spanish, Urdu, Mongolian, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Farsi-Persian, Swahili, Vietnamese, Romanian, Urdu & Braille. It is now an international message of peace with over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world, dedicated as monuments to peace.
