Meth Bust Made After Expired Registration Stop: Northbrook Police Blotter
The man is accused of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a car with an expired registration.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
FAILURE TO APPEAR
Kawandra R. Wellington, of Chicago, had a warrant out of Cook County for failure to appear, and was arrested at 1:27 p.m. June 21, at Charlemagne Drive and Dundee Road. He was originally stopped for operating a vehicle with no registration. Wellington was taken into custody by the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
Kenyetta S. Fleming, of Round Lake Beach, is accused of driving while license suspended, no proof of insurance, reckless driving, and was arrested at 5:07 a.m. June 22, in the 4500 block of Forest View Drive. Police had responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch. Fleming, the driver of the car, said she had attempted a U-turn and drove off the roadway. A court date of July 8 was assigned.

DRUG POSSESSION
James C. Geldermann, of Morton Grove, is accused of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration, and was arrested at 7:42 p.m. June 22, at Dundee Road and Oakleaf Terrace. Police had stopped Geldermann for the expired registration. The officer searched the vehicle and located three burnt glass tubes and two bags of a clear crystal substance. The clear crystal substance tested positive for containing methamphetamine. A court date of June 25 was assigned.
UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON
Daniel D. Nelson, of Skokie, is accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, driving while license suspended, unlawful possession of cannabis, expired registration, and was arrested at 3:13 p.m. June 23, at Dundee and Midway roads. A court date of June 25 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
PHONE SCAM
A Tamarind Drive resident reported at 8:30 p.m. June 21, receiving a fraudulent text message and phone call from an unknown number posing as a bank fraud alert. The resident was told his family's account had an unauthorized purchase and needed to transfer $1,216 via Zelle as a safety procedure. They became suspicious and realized the phone call was a scam.
THEFT
- A citizen reported at 11:01 a.m. June 25, her son had left his bicycle at a park near the water fountain in the 1800 block of Walters Avenue. When he returned an hour later, the silver Scott bicycle was stolen. The bike was worth $1,000.
- A citizen reported at 5:26 p.m. June 26, he had left his Sony headphones in the basketball court area of his fitness center in the 4100 block of Dundee Road. When he returned to retrieve them, they weren't there. Other members stated a male walked on to the court and stole the headphones prior to the complainant returning.
COMPUTER FRAUD
A Dundee Road resident called police at 1:51 p.m. June 26, to report she found a website to assist her with TSA pre-flight check-in. She provided all of her information on the website and then was charged $164 to complete the transaction. After following up with the local TSA office to check on the status, they had no record of her application. The complainant realized the website she found was a scam.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
Police saw a 2020 black Infiniti G37 with a defective rear license plate light at 9:33 p.m. June 26, at Dundee and Pfingsten roads. The officer stopped the vehicle and began to walk towards the driver’s door. The driver quickly fled and accelerated to a high rate of speed. The vehicle was last seen speeding northbound on Dundee Road.
