With a goal of bringing "modern sophistication, enhanced guest experiences and a new design identity" to The Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel, the work was guided by The Gettys Group, in collaboration with Ste Marie Design.

According to the hotel, the project was executed in two major phases, with the renovation beginning five years ago. Enhancements include a full refresh of all guestrooms, followed by a most-recent expansive upgrade to the public spaces, meeting venues, and exterior arrival experience which are officially open for guests to enjoy. Construction efforts were led by Jade Group and ABAT Builders.

"The design narrative draws heavily from the idyllic and nature-rich North Shore of Chicago, creating an immersive and energizing atmosphere that celebrates the surrounding community," the hotel company said.

In addition, public spaces are now defined by experiential zones including a lobby bar and studio space, both designed with community and connection in mind to offer ample opportunity to bring guests together. A redesigned club lounge and a tech-forward fitness center round out the amenity upgrades.

On the meetings and events side, over 20,000 square feet of flexible space — including 21 breakout rooms— received state-of-the-art AV capabilities, digital signage and elegant, modern cosmetic refinements. The Greenery, a signature venue with floor-to-ceiling windows, now serves as a showpiece for weddings, conferences, and corporate functions with a capacity of up to 500 guests.
