Northbrook Catholic Churches Donating Easter Baskets To Chicago Church

The group will also be donating $5,000 worth of grocery gift cards to the parish on Chicago's West Side.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Volunteers from St. Norbert and Our Lady of the Brook Parish in Northbrook are set to deliver Easter donations Friday benefitting Catholics on Chicago's West Side. The donations, to be delivered at 8:45 a.m. at St. Simon of Cyrene Parish, include 75 Easter baskets and $5,000 worth of grocery gift cards.

The donations are part of a long-standing tradition as the Women's Guild at Our Lady of the Brook Parish made 75 Easter baskets, which include toys, books and candy, to benefit children at St. Martin de Porres Parish.

Parishioners from the unified Northbrook Catholic churches also donated $5,000 in grocery store gift cards to support Chicago families purchase their Easter dinners. On average, families will receive $100 gift cards "to ease the cost burden caused by rising prices," according to organizers.
