Northbrook Teen Charged With Burglary

A 17-year-old Northbrook resident was charged with burglary in connection with an incident that took place in the 2000 block of Butternut.

The following reports were provided by the Northbrook Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not indicate guilt.

Stolen Whale Gun

On April 8, someone on the 2200 block of Chestnut Street reported a whale gun was stolen from an unlocked plastic storage bin in the home, according to police.

This "whale gun" was described as a gun used for hunting whales in the ocean, police say. The item was worth about $100 according to the victim. A bed was also removed from the bin and left outside, according to police.

Teen Charged With Burglary

Matthew Fahey, 17 of Northbrook, was arrested and charged with burglary, in connection with an incident that took place in the 2000 block of Butternut on March 30, according to police.

Willow Festival Car Burglaries

On April 13, three vehicles were burglarized while parked at the Willow Festival shopping center, according to police. Stolen items included several laptops, iPhones, iPads, notebooks, a USB drive, a wallet with $200 and $20 in German currency, police say.

Officers tracked down one of the iPhones to a Chicago address in the 17th police district where they were able to recover the phone and other stolen, according to police.

Police arrested Jason Sanchez, 27, of Chicago, on the 4500 block of W. George Street, in relation to the burglaries. 

Vehicular Burglaries

On April 12, a woman had parked her on the 1200 block of Sanders Road, and gone inside Wood Oaks Junior High, according to police. While inside, someone shattered the car's rear passenger window and took a purse, police say.
