Northfield Township Road District Daily Recycling Center Set To Open
The facility, which is open to Northfield Township, Northbrook, and Glenview residents, opens for the summer season on weekdays on April 10.
NORTHBROOK, IL — Local residents will soon again have a place to drop off recycling as the Northfield Township Road District will again open up its facility for daily use beginning next week.
The road district’s garage is located at 237 Melvin Dr. and accepts recyclable materials Monday through Friday. The facility will open at 7 a.m. April 10 and will be open until 3 p.m. on weekdays through Nov. 3, local officials said.
The road district garage accepts a wide variety of items for charitable reuse or responsible recycling, which are listed on the road district’s website. Residents are asked to drive their vehicles to the front of the garage door on the north driveway side of the building and ring the bell for assistance unloading their vehicles.

No TVs or computer monitors are accepted at the residential drop-off spot and no business-related recycling will be accepted.
In addition to weekday recycling, the road district also offers paper shredding and household chemical recycling throughout the summer months. All of the recycling events are open to Northfield Township residents, which includes Northfield, Northbrook, and Glenview.

Those events are also held at the road district garage and will be held on the following dates:
Paper shredding for sensitive documents: May 20, June 10, and July 26 (held at the North Shore Senior Center), July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 23, and Oct. 21 from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Residents are reminded to check the road district's website for updates or changes to the schedule and for a list of the materials that are accepted at the facility.
