Pair Caught Stealing 17 Items From Store: Northbrook Police Blotter

The loss prevention staff said they paid for some things, but had concealed others, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

FAILING TO APPEAR

Cameron D. Carlsen, of Northbrook, had a warrant for failing to appear in domestic court, and was arrested at 1:59 p.m. Oct. 18, in the 2800 block of Dundee Road. An officer had recognized him from previous incidents and knew he had a warrant. Carlsen was brought to the Cook County Jail to wait for his court date.

RETAIL THEFT

Victor J. Gaspar, of Chicago, and Christine Song, of Wheeling, are accused of retail theft, and were arrested at 5:25 p.m. Oct. 19, in the 800 block of Willow Road. The loss prevention staff at the store said the pair had concealed several items for sale in their clothing. As they checked out, they paid for some items, but stole 17 other items for sale, totaling $305.56. A court date of Nov. 17 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Laura Brown, of Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 2:57 p.m. Oct. 21, at Colonnades Drive and York Court. Police said Brown had struck a parked car with her vehicle. A court date of Nov. 19 was assigned.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Jatari S. Triplett, of Skokie, is accused of having an expired registration, driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Oct. 21, in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. A court date of Nov. 24 was assigned.
  • Christian N. Gonzalez, of Berwyn, is accused of having an expired registration, driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 12:38 a.m. Oct. 22, at Dundee and Midway roads. A court date of Dec. 11 was assigned.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

Douglas M. Borjas Main, of Northfield, is accused of having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Oct. 21, at Skokie Boulevard and Sunset Ridge Road. A court date of Nov. 24 was assigned.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS
Colin G. Beumer, of Glenview, is accused of criminal trespass, and was arrested at 6:28 p.m. Oct. 22, in the 4100 block of Dundee Road. The staff at a fitness center said Beumer had entered the facility and scanned his identification swipe, which belonged to someone else. The management said they had told Beumer back in September that he could not be there if he didn’t have a membership. When the
officers attempted to speak to him on why he was using another person's membership to sneak into the facility, he refused to answer. A court date of Nov. 17 was assigned.
The court date is set for Nov. 17.

INCIDENTS

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

A citizen reported at 2:08 p.m Oct. 17, someone had stolen the registration sticker from the license plate of his 2021 black Ford in the 3600 block of Indian Wells Lane.

CHECK FRAUD

A Dundee Road resident reported at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 19, she had mailed a $185 check for payment to someone in Wisconsin. Her account indicated the check was cashed, but for $9,850. The complainant checked her account for the digital picture of the cashed check and noticed the payee was changed as well. She is working with the bank to see where the check was stolen and altered.
