Pair Charged With Felony Retail Theft In Early Morning Arrest: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Robert D. Garrity, of St. Louis, Missouri, had an active warrant out of Cook County for criminal damage to property, and was arrested at 9:01 a.m. July 11, at Dundee and Midway roads. He was taken into custody and transferred to the Cook County Jail.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

  • Horacio Azucena Leyva, of Chicago, is accused of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 2:36 p.m. July 11, at Dundee Road and Oakleaf Terrace. A court date of Aug. 11 was assigned.
  • Leangelo Maglantay, of Northbrook, is accused of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to display a registration plate, operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration, operating a motor vehicle without proper license classification, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and was arrested at 5:40 p.m. July 12, at Lake Cook Road and Pointe Drive. Police were responding to a traffic crash involving a motorcycle, driven by Maglantay, and a Tesla. A court date of Aug. 11 was assigned.

Brianna E. Barbosa, of Chicago, and Milagros Carrion, of Burbank, are both of accused of felony retail theft, along with obstructing identification, and were arrested at 2 a.m. July 12, in the 3900 block of Willow Road. The two had been seen at a retail store concealing items in a bag. A court date of July 15 was assigned.

VIOLATING AN ORDER OF PROTECTION

Asma Bursurmanova, of Northbrook, is accused of violating an order of protection by contacting the protected party by phone, and was arrested at 9 a.m. July 16, in the 4100 block of Lake Cook Road. A court date of July 17 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

A resident in the 3500 block of Tamarind Drive reported at 10:19 a.m. July 11, that the windows on his neighbor's car were broken. While checking the area, police found the vehicle and contacted the owner. Nothing appeared to be missing.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident of the 2500 block of Cobblewood Road reported at 11:24 a.m. July 12, that their garage door was accidentally left open overnight. They discovered some items had been moved, but nothing appeared to be missing.
  • A resident of the 2500 block of Cobblewood Road reported at 1:26 p.m. July 12, that their garage door had been accidentally left open overnight. One of the homeowner's vehicles in the garage was rummaged through, but nothing was taken.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

An officer in the 2700 block of Canterbury Drive found the front passenger door on the homeowner's car standing open at 6 a.m. July 14. The homeowner said none of the items inside his vehicle were taken, but just rummaged through.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A resident in the 2300 block of Castillian Drive called police at 6:53 p.m. July 14, to report that during the early morning hours, their doorbell camera caught two people entering their vehicles in the driveway and rummaging through the cars. Nothing was taken from either vehicle.
