Police Found 2 Vehicles On Clover Road With Doors Open: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Alan Hernandez, 24, of 5536 N. Sawyer Ave., Chicago, is accused of driving with no valid driver's license and an expired and suspended registration, and of illegally transporting alcohol. He was arrested on Nov. 13 at 10:41 p.m. and was released after posting a $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 3.

INCIDENTS

BATTERY

On Nov. 12 at 10:13 a.m., a complainant reported that an unknown woman approached them and began arguing with them about parking in a handicapped spot without a permit in the 1100 block of Church Street. During the argument, an unknown man exited the same car as the woman and slapped the side of the complainant's face.

ORDINANCE VIOLATION

On Nov. 15 at 2:01 p.m., an officer responded to the 1700 block of Happ Road regarding a dumpster blocking the bike lane and part of the traffic lane. The officer made contact with the dumpster company for its removal.

RETAIL THEFT

On Nov. 15 at 4:10 p.m., a complainant observed a woman conceal several shoes under a dress then enter a fitting room at the Nordstrom Rack in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. The same woman was then observed exiting the fitting room with two shopping bags and leaving the store without paying for any items.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE

• On Nov. 15 at 8:21 p.m., a complainant reported that they arrived home to the 3400 block of Bayberry Road to find their garage door open. Officers checked the residence and found no evidence that anyone had entered it.
• Overnight from Nov. 16 to 17, a complainant reported at the Northbrook police station that they received a letter from the Illinois State Treasurer claiming that they were owed a refund. When the complainant entered their personal information on a listed website, they then believed that the website was not legitimate. The complainant was advised to notify their credit agencies to place an alert on their accounts.
• On Nov. 17 at 10:09 a.m., a complainant reported that an unknown subject had removed mail from their mailbox in the 1300 block of Candlewood Hill Road without their permission.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

On Nov. 16 at 10:27 a.m., a complainant reported that various utility poles at the intersection of Picardy Drive and Sanders Road had new graffiti on them.

SOLICITOR COMPLAINT

On Nov. 16 at 3:53 p.m., a complainant reported that a solicitor had come to their door in the 1300 block of Southwind Drive soliciting for free inspections. An officer located the subject, who was working for a construction company at a residence in the area but didn't have credentials to be soliciting. The subject was told how to obtain the necessary credentials.

TRESSPASS TO VEHICLE

• On Nov. 17 at 2:45 a.m., complainant reported that they received an alert from their doorbell app and observed an unknown male subject wearing a dark colored hoodie attempt to open the front passenger door of their vehicle, which was parked in the 2000 block of Clover Road. The subject did not make entry to the vehicle, and was then observed walking down the driveway to a waiting vehicle.
• On Nov. 17 at 5:03 a.m., an officer investigating another matter located a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 2000 block of Clover Road with a door open. The owner was contacted and told that their locked vehicle was entered, but nothing appeared to be missing and there were no signs of damage to the vehicle.
• Overnight from Nov. 16 to 17, an officer investigating another matter located a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1800 block of Clover Road with a door open. The owner was contacted and told that their locked vehicle was entered, but nothing appeared to be missing and there were no signs of damage to the vehicle.

THEFT

• On Nov. 16 at noon, a complainant in the 600 block of Dunsten Circle reported that an unknown subject(s) removed the front license plate off of their vehicle.
