Precautionary Lockdown at Meadowbrook After Students Report Suspicious Person
Meadowbrook students were released at the end of the day after a brief lockdown at the District 28 elementary school on Thursday.

Meadowbrook school was briefly locked down on Thursday after some students told staff they saw a man who may have been holding "an object that raised concerns" near the school, according to a district press release.
"The police searched the area extensively and determined it was safe for the school to come out of lockdown and release students at the end of the school day," according to the release.
Northbrook's Jennifer Weglarz, whose daughter attends the school, says she was in touch with Northbrook police after the incident.

"They don't know if it was a gun... a paintball gun or a garden tool or nothing," Weglarz said. "When kids are scared, they see all kinds of crazy stuff that's not there."
According to the district's release, "the Northbrook Police are continuing to investigate this situation and have an increased presence at all schools in Northbrook tomorrow during drop-off, throughout the school day, and during pick-up."
