NORTHBROOK, IL — While it's pretty obvious kids know what time of year it is based on their endless excitement, dogs might not be too sure what's going on during the holiday season. Nonetheless, "Santa Paws" is the perfect opportunity to get your pooch in on the fun, and a photograph with Saint Nick will guarantee a timeless memory for the whole family.

"Santa Paws" takes place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Dec. 20, at Village Green Center, 1810 Walters Ave., in downtown Northbrook. The Northbrook Park District event will include a goodie bag with dog treats and a five-minute time slot for photos for each participating dog.

"Northbrook has a large community of dog owners that we are delighted to serve," NPD Recreation Supervisor Matt Papale said. "We offer a variety of festive events for the whole family in December — from 'Skate with Santa' to our annual holiday party for seniors and a production of 'A Christmas Chaos' on stage — and we wanted to make sure pooches also had their chance to have a fun time."
