Traffic Stop Yields 24 Bags of Pot: Police

The driver was arrested for possession with intent to deliver.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Felony drug possession

Officers saw Kyle G. Sims, 19, of the 2200 block of Valencia in Northbrook, disobey a stop sign and stopped his vehicle at Western and Maple at 9 p.m. Sept. 28. While speaking to him, an officer observed a package of flavored blunt cigars in the center console along with what appeared to be cannabis. Police say Sims admitted to the officer that there was cannabis in the center console.

He informed the officer that there was additional cannabis in the trunk, police said. Officers located and removed 116.3 grams of cannabis in 24 bags from the vehicle. Sims was placed under arrest, for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and disobeying a stop sign. He was transported to bond court.

Residential burglary

A homeowner in the 2600 block of Farnsworth reported returning home from a vacation Sept. 29 and discovering the home had been burglarized. Jewelry was taken from the upstairs bedroom.

Trespassing

Sandra Brown, 60, of the 800 block of E. Old Willow Road, had been advised by her former place of employment not to return. She returned Sept. 28, ignoring the warnings and was arrested for criminal trespass to property. She was released on $1,500 bond with an Oct. 29 court date.
