Wisconsin Man Charged With Public Indecency: Northbrook Police Blotter

The arrest stemmed from a 2021 incident at a shopping center in Northbrook.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRUG POSSESSION

Jonathan T. Markocki, of Deerfield, is accused of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and was arrested at 3:23 p.m. Sept. 5, in the 4100 block of Terri-Lyn Lane. Police saw a vehicle attempting to tow another car on a residential street. One of the two people involved, Markocki, had an active arrest warrant out of Prospect Heights for possession of a controlled substance. During a search of Markocki, police reportedly found three glass pipes with residue in his pocket and white rocks that tested positive for containing crack cocaine. A court date of Sept. 9 was assigned.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT

Mary J. Howe, of Northbrook, had an active arrest warrant out of the Cook County Sheriff's Office for failure to appear in driving under the influence court, and was arrested at 8:23 p.m. Sept. 5, in the 1400 block of Landwehr Road. She was taken into custody and moved to the Cook County Jail.

PUBLIC INDECENCY

Edgar Javier Rivera-Irizarry, of Madison, Wisconsin, is accused of public indecency, and was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Sept. 8, after turning himself into police. According to police, Rivera-Irizarry had exposed his penis in a parking lot of a shopping center on June 6, 2021. A court date of Oct. 7 was assigned.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Markita A. Well, of Chicago, is accused of driving while license suspended, having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Sept. 10, at Dundee and Sanders roads. A court date of Oct. 16 was assigned.

RECKLESS DRIVING

Michael J. Galassini, of Northbrook, is accused of reckless driving, speeding, and was arrested at 12:06 a.m. Sept. 11, at Willow Road and The Strand. Police said Galassini was driving at 113 mph in a 40 mph zone when they pulled him over. A police chase ensued, and authorities say Galassini had fled from the car and was hiding from police when he was found a few blocks from the abandoned vehicle. A court date of Oct. 21 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

The staff of a landscaping company reported at 12:58 p.m. Sept. 5, that they had left their Stihl BR 800X leaf blower on the customer's driveway while they performed their work in the 1800 block of Phillips. While they were in the backyard, someone stole the $850 blower.

RETAIL THEFT

The loss prevention staff at a store in the 800 block of Willow Road reported at 4:09 p.m. Sept. 7, that a male had come into the store and grabbed products for sale. The staff noticed the person did not pay for the items prior to exiting the store. The staff and officers tried locating the fleeing male, but he ran from the premises prior to the officers arriving. The total amount stolen was $225.72.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Joshua Lane resident reported at 2:10 p.m. Sept. 10, that he had received a package from Verizon with his name on it. The package contained three iPhones and a Gateway modem. A second package was received the next day that contained three more iPhones. The complainant has never ordered any products from Verizon or is a customer of theirs. After contacting Verizon, he realized someone had unlawfully used his name to order products from them.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 1800 block of Butternut Lane reported at 11:50 a.m. Sept. 11, that while their house was under renovation, two purses and several pieces of jewelry were stolen from the house. The stolen items totaled $17,600.
