Cops: Gang Uses Bat to Beat Man; $2K Stolen from Local Car
From robbers shooting paintballs at victims' heads to a Craigslist sale gone bad, these are the 19th District Police Department's most recent police reports.

The following reports are based on police reports from Chicago's 19th Police District.
The district provides police protection on Chicago's north side, from Lawrence Avenue on the north, Fullerton Avenue on the south, the Chicago River on the west and Lake Michigan on the east.

A 43-year-old Logan Square woman called police Sunday after she reportedly met a man on Craigslist in Lincoln Park who ended up stealing her SamsungGalaxy S III smartphone. According to the police report, the woman met the 21-year-old man on Craigslist because he was interested in buying the phone. That’s when they arranged to meet to make the transaction.
However, when the woman took her phone out in a parking lot in the 2700 block of North Clybourn Avenue so she could show the man, he snatched it from her and ran away. He fled toward the Diversey Parkway, Damen Avenue and Clybourn Avenue intersection, police said. When they searched the area, they didn't find him.

Woman Sexually Assaulted at Popular Bar
Chicago police are investigating the criminal sexual assault of a 23-year-old North Side woman after a Lake View man reportedly slipped drugs into her drink at Big City Tap and then raped her, according to a police report.

Man Beat with Bat, Robbed by Gang
Police responded to Illinois Masonic Medical Center shortly before 6 p.m. Monday after a 19-year-old Lake View man was reportedly beaten and robbed by three members of the gang Four Corner Hustlers.
The man was walking in the 1000 block of Wellington Avenue when a man shouted “Four Corner Hustler!” and began to beat him with a baseball bat, according to the report.
Two more men punched and kicked the victim as he struggled to get away, and then one of them stole his CTA pass along with $120 cash, police said. After they fled, the man walked to the hospital for treatment and was released in good condition.
Police searched the area, but couldn’t find the suspects. Two of the reported criminals had gold teeth, the report said.
Armed Robbery in Boystown
SUNDAY, DEC. 9
Police responded to an armed robbery in Boystown around 12:20 a.m. when a 22-year-old woman was reportedly shot in the back of the head with a paintball gun after telling robbers she didn’t have any money.
According to the police report, an unknown man followed the woman into the corridor of her apartment building in the 800 block of West Buckingham Place. He knocked her to the ground and shouted, “Give me all your money!” When the woman said she didn’t have any, the man hit her on the side of her head with his gun, she told police. He then shot her in the back of the head with a paintball gun.
Another Paintball Gun Robbery
Two men in their early 20s robbed a 19-year-old man shortly before midnight using a paintball gun, police say. According to the report, the two men approached the victim in an alley in the 900 block of Dakin Street and hit him in the head with the end of a paintball gun. The gun accidentally fired, the report reads, shooting a yellow paintball into the victim’s hair. The robbers stole the man’s iPhone and wallet before getting away, police said.
Nearly $2,000 Worth of Items Taken from Unlocked Car
A 22-year-old suburban man visiting Chicago called police Sunday after he discovered someone stole almost everything that was inside of his sport utility vehicle. The man told police he was parked in the 1600 block of Roscoe Street in West Lake View, near Roscoe Village, when someone entered his unlocked car. A $200 Tom Tom GPS, $1,000 Dell laptop and $200 iPod were among the items. The break-in was reported around noon.
