Businesses Band Together for Roscoe Village’s ‘Winterfest’
Winterfest is back, featuring everything from a tree-lighting ceremony to horse-drawn trolley rides. Local businesses are pulling out all the stops.

It’s time to officially unpack your winter jackets because the Winterfest celebration is ready to storm Roscoe Village this weekend.
The massive event will take place on Saturday from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. on Roscoe Street With activities like a tree lighting ceremony with Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd), food, drinks, trolley and sleigh rides and carolers, the event is slated to be a raging success.
What’s more is nearly every local business on Roscoe Street – and plenty more on Belmont Avenue – are getting in the holiday mood. From unique ornament designs at Roscoe Village Bikes to an appearance by Santa at Conexion Salon and Spa, the two-day event has businesses buzzing.

“We’re planning to do recycled bicycle part ornament making,” said Roscoe Village Bikes owner Alex Tweedie. “It doesn’t cost anything to do the ornament making. We just save old and broken parts that we’d usually send to the scrapper. We’ve done it a few years, and it’s kind of turned into a cool event for us. People really like it.”

The entire event kicks off on Saturday at 5p.m. when Ald. Waguespack helps at the annual tree lighting ceremony at D Spa & Pet Boutique at 2211 W. Roscoe St. Following the main event, the Roscoe Village shops take the spotlight, and almost every store on Roscoe is hosting events like trunk shows, sales, music and tasty treats.
The horse-drawn sleigh around Roscoe Village starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday while more than 20 area businesses, including those on Belmont Avenue, hold even more events and activities for both children and adults.
To cap it all off, Santa will make a grand appearance from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, sitting tight for photos and Christmas wishes at 2213 W. Roscoe St.
