'Cutting Gallery' Mixes Styles in Roscoe Village
The new salon is a work of passion for owner Diadro Evans, saying he's brining almost two decades of styling to Roscoe Village.
Stylist Diadro Evans has taken the plunge, mixing what he calls a barbershop feel with a high-end salon in his first business venture in Roscoe Village.
SDC Cutting Gallery, located at 2120 W. Belmont Ave., opened roughly two months ago, and both Evans and his clients are feeling the love. The man with almost 30 five-star Yelp reviews says after almost two decades in the business, it was time to open something fresh.
“I opened up the business because, after doing hair for about 19 years, I realized that I saw a couple things in this industry that I liked and a couple things in this industry I didn’t like,” Evans said. “I wanted to take that and focus on the better things.”

Evans, who styled for a brief period of time at Roscoe Street’s Big Hair salon, says Roscoe Village seemed like the perfect fit when deciding where to open his first place.

Now he’s taking the best of both worlds to create a unique space. Between his experience with the traditional barber shop and his time spent in high-end salons, Evans created SDC Cutting Gallery.
“I started out at a the neighborhood barber shops and eventually moved to upscale places, but there was always something I liked or didn’t like about those places,” Evans said. “Now I’m mixing both techniques from the traditional barber shop and the salon, so where some places only focus on a specific style of cutting, we do it all.”
