Eat a Pizza, Give Back to Burley School

This week, make Tuesday your pizza night so you can support Burley Elementary School.

A local restaurant is combining two awesome things this week—pizza and promoting education.

Anyone making purchases at Roscoe Village's HomeMade Pizza Company, 2039 W. Roscoe St., between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, will be contributing to fundraising efforts by Burley Elementary School's Parent Teacher Association.

On designated fundraising nights, the restaurant donates $4 for every deep-dish pizza, $3 for every large or gluten-free Pizza, $2 for every large salad, $1 for every bread sticks or dessert order, and 10 percent from every gift card sold, according to parameters posted on its website.

"A good turnout adds up fast," the site says. "One hundred pizzas is over $300, 200 is over $600 of funds for your organization. ... At HomeMade, we want to cut your school a big check. How big is up to you."

Proceeds generated Tuesday will help pay for the school's scholarship program, which offers trips to Washington D.C. for seventh and eighth-grade students.

"Tell all your friends and family and make it a night to support Burley School!" local 32nd Ward Ald. Scott Waguespack recently wrote in his weekly newsletter.

Phone or online orders can be made in advance but must be picked up during the designated time on Tuesday in order for Burley to receive the donations.

Deliveries are not included in the promotion.
