Cops: Gangster, 4 Friends Attack Teens on Addison

Five teens were arrested over the weekend after reportedly beating up and robbing two boys on Addison Street.

Police arrested five teenagers over the weekend—one who they say admitted to being a member of the Spanish Gangster Disciples—after they reportedly attacked two other teens in the 2100 block of West Addison Street.

Two 16-and 17-year-old male victims from the 3800 block of North Oakley Avenue were walking down Addison around 11 p.m. on Jan. 12 when the group of five teenagers, ranging from 15-to 19-years-old, saw them. Police said the group crossed the street and started chasing the duo, catching one boy and beating him on the sidewalk.

The second victim returned to help his friend, at which point he was pulled into the fight, according to the report. The suspects took that boy’s wallet and ran off.

Officers scouring the area spotted a group matching the suspects' descriptions and running into the Dunkin Donuts in the 1700 block of West Addison Street. They reportedly met them inside, searched them individually and found the victim's bank cards.

All five of the offenders were read their rights, arrested and charged with one count each of strong-armed robbbery, according to the report. They were taken to the 19th Police District for processing.

The police report indicates that one suspect was an acquaintance to one of the victims, but the rest were all strangers.
