Half Acre Tap Room Makes Top 10 Bars in Chicago

Chicago Magazine release its list of top 100 bars in the city, with the new taproom earning the No. 8 spot. See what other neighborhood bars were mentioned.

Less than three months after opening, Half Acre Beer Company's taproom earned one of Chicago's highest honors. Chicago Magazine named it No. 8 out of the 100 best bars in the city.

"If aliens came to Northcenter never having had beer before, I think if they wound up in our taproom, they'd just know it was built to serve solid beer,” sales and cultural manager, Roger McQuinn, told Patch just before the taproom opened in November.

The magazine’s 11 reporters went to more than 1,200 bars across Chicago, rating them on quality, selection, service and atmosphere. Findings were divided into 12 categories, ranging from best cocktails to LGBT and neighborhood spots.
