Local Police Offer to Break Into Your Home

Police in the 19th District are offering to inspect your home or apartment to determine if you're adequately protected against burglars.

Police covering a section of NorthCenter are offering to inspect area residences to determine how people they can make their homes safer.

The security survey is a preventative approach to home burglaries, said Sgt. Jason Clark with the 19th District of the Chicago Police Department. Clark told residents of the visits at a recent area CAPS meeting.

When officers stop by, they try various entry points to advise residents where to add lighting and timers or how to protect against backdoor entry. Clark said he's been to several houses, ranging from those with fortress-like security to those with unlocked windows.
