Parking Notice: NC & RV Streets to Avoid this Winter

The Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation has been working hard to ensure that the city is prepared for the first winter storm, and residents in Lake View should be equally as prepared when parking.

An Overnight Winter Parking Ban will take effect around the City of Chicago beginning this Saturday through Monday, April 1 from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., regardless of snow. 

While the parking ban doesn't affect any streets in North Center or Roscoe Village, signage highlighting the ban in other parts of the city is permanently posted along 107 miles of Chicago's most critical arterial streets. 

And although the overnight ban doesn't affect locals, motorists should refrain from parking on any of the 500 miles of designated snow routes when two or more inches of snow has fallen. That includes basically every major thoroughfare in town.

During a heavy snow the city may need to activate enforcement of the two-inch parking restriction, and vehicles parked in violation would become subject to being ticketed and vehicle relocation.

The streets affected in North Center and Roscoe Village are:

• Irving Park Road
• Addison Street
• Belmont Avenue
• Diversey Parkway
• Lincoln Avenue
• Western Avenue
• Damen Avenue
• Clybourn Avenue
