PHOTOS: Meringue Opens on Roscoe, Plans Party

The shop in the heart of Roscoe Village officially opens Wednesday, sporting more than just vintage bridal gear.

After signing the lease in November, Roscoe Village resident Kristine Engel is officially ready to open the doors at .

The vintage bridal store and boutique, located at 2207 W. Roscoe St., sits in the heart of Roscoe Village. But Engel says when shoppers step into Meringue on Wednesday, they may notice it’s more than vintage wedding gowns.

“It’s really different styles for different occasions,” Engel said. “… We even have men’s vintage accessories, book ends from 1920s France, art deco cuff links. Its all vintage inspired.”

Engel says since speaking with Patch in December about her new store with theatrical flair, she’s taken the time to enjoy the process of opening Meringue, and now she plans to enjoy sharing it with residents.

That’s why she’s pairing up with neighboring business Village Paperie & Gifts Thursday for a pre-grand opening event. Everyone’s invited to her new store from 6-9 p.m. to sip champagne, check out the merchandise and see Village Paperie’s vintage-style wedding invitations.
