An area man was taken to the hospital over the weekend after he was stabbed near the Roscoe Village-Northcenter border, according to police.

Police are searching for the culprits of a weekend stabbing in Roscoe Village that left a man bleeding on a local sidewalk.

The victim, who was 39, was walking westbound down Belmont Avenue near its intersection with Clybourn around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, when he was approached from behind by two men.

One of the two stabbed him twice in the thigh and said, "We just want your wallet. Give us your wallet," according to the police report.

The man gave the offenders his wallet, police said. The pair then ran off and the victim walked to the 3100 block of Clybourn Avenue, where he was able to call 911. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and received several stitches, the report said.

The robbery is among eight that were reported between Nov. 1 and Dec. 11, according to data from the City of Chicago. Four of those incidents included robbers who were armed—three with handguns and in the above case, a knife, the reports say.
