Square Roots 2013: Music Festival Returns to Lincoln Avenue

The dates for this year's Square Roots Festival have been announced.

The Square Roots Festival is on again for the summer of 2013.

Mark Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 14 for a celebration that combines eclectic music, craft beer and local food.

Square Roots, now in its second year, is organized by a partnership between the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce.

The festival will again take place on Lincoln between Montrose and Wilson avenues.

In 2012, Square Roots brought more than 25,000 people to the neighborhood, said Darby Putman, who served on the planning committee.

Multiple music stages, both inside and out of the Old Town School of Folk featured performers from around Chicago and the world.

Old Town joined the chamber and replaced its Folk & Roots festival with Square Roots, citing difficulties in renting Welles Park and complicated city processes.
