1 In Custody After Shots Fired In Midlothian: PD

One person was taken into custody following a shots fired incident at 147th and Turner Avenue Monday morning, police said.

MIDLOTHIAN, IL — One person was in custody Monday morning after shots were fired at 147th and Turner Avenue, police said.

Police were called for a report of shots fired just after 10 a.m. Responding officers found numerous spent shell casings in the street and a handgun laying on the ground, police said. Officers learned that a suspect exchanged gunfire with occupants of a silver Jeep Cherokee. The suspects in the Jeep Cherokee fled the area, and the other suspect fled into an apartment on Turner Avenue.

With assistance of the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, police got into the apartment and took that suspect into custody.

The suspects in the Jeep Cherokee were not located as of late Monday morning, police said.
