3 Dead After Driver Went Around Gates, Struck Freight Train: Official
The crash happened at 153rd and Park Avenue in Harvey, according to reports.
HARVEY, IL — Three people were killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash with a freight train and a vehicle in Harvey, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed.
Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, the passenger vehicle went around lowered crossing gates and struck the side of a CSX locomotive at 153rd and Park Ave in Harvey, according to a statement from CSX Transportation.
Dolton police and local EMS quickly responded to the scene, but all three passengers in the vehicle were pronounced dead.

The victims were not identified as of 7 p.m., the Medical Examiner's Office said.
There were no injuries to the crew of the train.

"CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragedy, and we will work on scene to support local law enforcement as they continue to investigate," the company said.
