Annual American Day Parade & Old Times Picnic is Canceled

The annual Labor Day event was canceled, according to the park district's website.

OAK FOREST, IL — The annual "American Day Parade & Old Times Picnic 2020" has been canceled, according to the Village of Oak Forest's website.

The event would have been hosted on Labor Day, and the 8th annual Oak Forest Veterans Commission "I Am An American Day Parade," will not be happening either.

Typically, families are invited to participate in the event by decorating bikes, wagons or strollers. The parade would have began at Hille Middle School, 5800 W. 151st Street. The event would have ended at the Oak Forest Park District, 15601 S. Central Ave.

The Park district posted a statement announcing the cancelation on their website.

"We are sad to announce that we will not be holding our annual Old Times Family Picnic this year. We are eternally grateful to all the sponsors that worked with us last year, and continue to make the picnic great," the park district wrote on their website. "We would not be able to do it without them. Although we will not see you this year for Labor Day, we are already looking forward to next year with new and fun ideas! We encourage everyone to still enjoy time with their family over the Labor Day weekend. Stay safe, and stay healthy!"
