Arbor Park School District To Return To In-Person Instruction

Schools in the district will return to in-person instruction on Oct. 26, for the families that responded "yes" to a July survey.

OAK FOREST, IL — On Oct. 26, students will begin the transition back to in-person instruction in Arbor School District 145 schools.

All families that responded with "yes"to a survey in July will be sending their children back at the end of the month. Those who responded with "no" will continue on with remote learning until Monday, Nov. 30, according to District Superintendent Andrea Sala.

A new survey for the district will be sent out the first week of November asking for a placement decision. The decision will determine where students will continue their education during the COVID-19 pandemic and second trimester. The next phase of the reopening plan begins Nov. 30, according to Sala.

The superintendent said detailed building plans, social distancing measures and protocols will be enforced by principals and grade level teams. Sala said there are two changes every parent and guardian should know:

  • The school day will now return to each school's regular hours, for both on-site and remote learners.
  • No students will be on site Wednesdays, as they will be "asynchronous learning days." This means students will log in and learn at their own pace and independently every Wednesday at home.

Sala reminds parents that a return to full remote instruction is possible at any time.

"As always, we will continue to put the safety of our loved ones first and foremost. Our community, parents, teachers and staff are all doing such a wonderful job," Sala said.
