OAK FOREST, IL — An armed robber stole cigarettes and $200 in lottery tickets from an Oak Forest convenience store last week, the Daily Southtown reports. The incident happened Nov. 13 at the 7-Eleven at 4901 167th St., and no one was hurt, the report added.
According to Oak Forest police, the suspect brought items to the checkout seemingly to buy them, but instead, he ordered the clerk at gunpoint to give him money from the store's register, the report stated. As the clerk opened the register, the suspect walked behind the counter — gun still on the employee — and demanded cigarettes and lottery tickets, too, the report added.
The armed robber then left the store on foot with the cigarettes and lottery tickets, the report stated. Although he had initially demanded cash, it wasn't immediately known if he escaped with any money, the report added.
