Arrest Made In Shooting Outside Midlothian Bar: PD

MIDLOTHIAN, IL β€” A 34-year-old Midlothian man has been charged in connection with an April 6 shooting outside a Midlothian bar, police said Friday.

Officers responded just before 1 a.m. Sunday to Coaches Sports Bar & Grill in the 14600 block of Waverly Avenue, where a man outside on the sidewalk was approached by two masked people, one of whom pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the neck, police said. The victim was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, and detectives had people in custody as of late Sunday morning.

The Cook County State's Attorney's Office did not initially approve charges against the suspects in the investigation, police said Friday. The investigation was continued for further evidence and the suspects were released.

At 4:30 a.m. April 10, the Midlothian Police Department, with assistance from the South Suburban Emergency Response Team, descended on a home in the 4600 block of 146th St, to recover additional evidence of the crime.

One of the suspects, Richard Deese, 34, was taken back into custody.

Deese was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, a felony.

He was taken to the Cook County jail to await his court date, police said.
