Attempted Murder Charge After Woman, 33, Shot Driver During Fight On Bishop Ford: State Police
The incident happened on I-94 near 159th Street early Sunday, state police said.

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL — A Chicago woman has been charged with attempted murder after shooting another woman on the Bishop Ford expressway in South Holland over the weekend, Illinois State Police said Tuesday.
Valencia Carwell, 33, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and aggravated domestic battery in connection with the shooting on I-94 at 159th Street.
State police were called early Sunday at 2:30 a.m. for a report of an expressway shooting. A female driver's car had broken down, and was parked on the shoulder. Police allege that Carwell, who knew the woman, arrived in a second vehicle, and a fight ensued. Carwell is then alleged to have shot the woman multiple times, Illinois State Police said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Troopers at the scene found Carwell with a firearm and took her into custody.
On Oct. 13, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the charges against Carwell. She is being held pending her first court appearance.
