Bremen HS D228 and Jewel-Osco To Host Vaccination Clinic In October

The district is teaming up with Jewel-Osco again this year to offer a variety of vaccines to anyone who may need them.

BREMEN TOWNSHIP, IL - In an effort to offer resources to anyone who may need it, Bremen High School District 228, in partnership with Jewel-Osco, is organizing a vaccination clinic over the span of two days, with a number of vaccines available to students, staff and the community who may need them.

The first clinic date is October 5, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Tinley Park High School – 6111 175th St.,Tinley Park – and at Hillcrest High School – 17401 Pulaski Road, Country Club Hills.

The second clinic date is October 6, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Oak Forest High School – 15201 S. Central Ave., Oak Forest – and at Bremen High School – 15203 Pulaski Road, Midlothian.

A variety of vaccines will be available for attendees, including the Meningitis vaccine, which is needed for seniors to graduate.

  • Flu and Covid
  • Student vaccines (Meningitis, HPV, Polio, Hepatitis, Tdap)
  • Adult routine vaccines (Shingles, Pneumonia, Tdap, Hepatitis and RSV vaccine)

This event is open to the community, and all are welcome to attend. In order to receive a vaccination of any kind, interested participants must register for the wellness clinic through Jewel-Osco, here. Osco has access to ICare and is able to check vaccination status for each participant upon request.

All attendees must fill out the Informed Consent for Immunization with Inactivated & Live Vaccines form. The form must be filled out the day of the wellness clinic, and a printed copy must be handed to staff prior to receiving a vaccine. Copies are available at the clinic if you are unable to fill them out in advance.

Participants should bring prescription and medical insurance cards if they have one. Participants should also wear shirts that are easily accessible to their upper arms.

The new monovalent COVID-19 vaccines are only covered by insurance. Check your insurance provider to ensure you are covered (BCBS HMO does not cover the new COVID-19 vaccine). The Meningitis vaccine is covered by PPO insurance plans, along with BCBS Medicaid, County Care and Meridian. Other vaccinations are fully covered for those with PPO insurance plans (BCBS HMO not accepted). PPO, Medicaid, and Medicare B will cover the cost of flu vaccines. If insured, patients must bring their insurance cards.

Additional information:

  • Anyone who is not 18 years of age or older will need a legal guardian to sign their vaccination consent forms. Parents do not need to be present when the inoculation occurs, but must sign off.
  • The wellness clinics will be held on parent/teacher conference and teachers institute days, no classes will be in session.
  • No transportation will be provided.
  • Entrances are wheel-chair accessible.
