$15K Stolen from Oak Forest Home: Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 8

Packing "Heat" and Drugs

David C. Coronado, 22, of the 16400 block of Terry Lane, was cited for possession of cannabis, 30 grams and under after police stopped him for a traffic stop at 1:30 a.m.

While on patrol, officers noted Coronado driving in an unusual manner and pulled him over. When officers asked Coronado to step out of his car for identification purposes and if he had any drugs or weapons in the car, he said he had a “fake” pistol in the center console. While searching the car, officers found a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance, that tested positive as cannabis. They also found a glass smoking pipe with cannabis in it.

Coronado told officers all items recovered belonged to him. Coronado was charged with possession/concealment of an air soft gun, possession of cannabis more than 2.5 grams, but less than 10 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released on an I-Bond, pending a court date.

MONDAY, AUG. 6

Waistband Contraband

Craig Barnes, Sr., of the 15100 block of Lexington Avenue, in Harvey, was stopped by police after failing to signal a turn in the 15400 block of Central Avenue, 9:17 p.m. While stopped officers asked barns to step out of the car and searched him, following suspicious movements from Barnes during the stop.

Through the search, officers found seven packages of suspected cocaine and six “dime bags” of suspected heroin tucked into his wasitband.

Police took Barnes into custody, where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, failure to signal and no proof of insurance.

SUNDAY, AUG. 5

Party Foul

Oak Forest Police were notified by a victim in the 15700 block of Revere Court that sometime during a party on Aug. 4, somebody took a $1,100 bracelet from their home. The victim told police they were going to try and recoup the loss through their insurance.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 1

Safes Not so Safe

Police were dispatched to a home in the 15200 block of Hllside Avenue, at 5:07 p.m., after a resident called in a possible burglary. The victim told police after arriving home, they noted their front door was forced open and then called police.

Officers discovered three upstairs bedrooms had been ransacked, with no sign of the intruders. The victim told police two safes were taken from one bedroom—one of which contained $15,000, along with a jewelery box containing costume jewelery. There was also a four-year-old Apple desktop that was removed from the home.

Officers photographed the scene and told the victim to list any other missing items and inform police later. There are no suspects at this time.
