Don't Steal From Walgreens

Zuleika F. Foster, 42, of the 13800 block of S. Kedvale Avenue, Robbins, and Diangelo E. Jones, 41, of the 13100 block of S. Cicero Avenue, Crestwood, were both arrested for retail theft, following an incident at Walgreen's, 4800 W. 148^th Street.

While on patrol, officers were dispatched to Walgreen's after a report of a retail theft in progress. The suspects fled the scene in a maroon-colored van while police were en route.

Police found the van and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Lavergne Avenue and 149^th Street.

During the stop, officers spoke with Foster and Jones, who said they were coming from Walgreen's. Officers had Jones, the passenger, exit the vehicle and performed a pat down, finding four bottles of skin cream in his coat pockets.

A search of the vehicle also found six bottles of Tide detergent, which a store employee said she saw the two suspects put in a black handbag before exiting the store without paying. Police found the detergent in a black handbag behind the driver's seat of the vehicle.

The total value of the items taken was $112.72.

Both suspects were taken to the Midlothian Police Department, where Foster was charged with misdemeanor retail theft and released on bond, while Jones was charged with felony retail theft and was transported to the Markham Courthouse for a bond hearing.

Alleged Drunk Driver has Pill in Pocket

Abel Villalobos-Cervantes, 36, of the 14200 block of S. Central Avenue, Crestwood, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

Officers saw the vehicle Villalobos-Cervantes was driving veer between lanes on Kilpatrick Avenue, and curbed him. During the stop, Villalobos-Vervantes told officers he did not have an American driver's license, nor did he have insurance on his vehicle as he had just bought it five days prior.

While speaking with Villaobos-Cervantes, officers noted he had bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Villaobos-Cervantes told officers he was coming from a bar in Crestwood and drank a 'couple' of beers while at the bar.

Officers had Villalobos-Cervantes exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to the report.

Police took Villalobos-Cervantes into custody and performed a search of his person, finding one orange pill in his coat pocket. Police took the pill to Walgreen's, where an employee told them it was the narcotic Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen. Villalobos-Cervantes was then transported to the Midlothian Police Department, where he blew a .167.

Villalobos-Cervantes was charged and placed in a holding cell, to await transport to the Markham Courthouse.
