Murder Charge Filed In Death Of Man Found Inside Oak Forest Home: PD

A Chicago man has been charged following the death of an Elburn man found inside an Oak Forest home Friday.

OAK FOREST, IL — A Chicago man has been charged in the death of an Elburn man whose body was found inside of an Oak Forest home Friday.

The Oak Forest Police Department’s Investigative Division, along with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, have been conducting an investigation regarding the death of Edward Lewis, 54, of Elburn. Lewis' body was discovered inside a home in the 15500 block of Long Avenue on Friday, May 23.

A cause of death has not yet been disclosed by either police or the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

On Monday, May 26, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved one felony count of first-degree murder against Michael Protho, 30, of Chicago in connection with the death of Edward Lewis.

A detention hearing for Protho is scheduled for today, May 27, at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
