Chuck Toland Makes Good on Oak Forest Raiders Credit Card Mistake

The city alderman and onetime treasurer of the youth sports organization recently wrote a $15,000 check to cover his "mistake."

Oak Forest Alderman Chuck Toland says he mistakenly used the Oak Forest Raiders credit card on personal purchases, racking up close to $18,000 in expenses, while serving as treasurer of the youth sports organization. Toland recently wrote a check for $15,000 to repay the money, reports the Chicago Tribune, after getting a late start on a $3,000-a-month payment plan.

Reports Gregory Pratt for the Tribune:

Toland, who has served as an Oak Forest alderman since 2007, called the situation an “honest mistake.” He said he first realized what had happened in the spring.

Raiders President Greg James echoed Toland in an interview, saying the organization “didn’t think of it as theft. It was a mistake.”

The matter came to police attention in June, after Raiders athletic director Roy Pruitt called Oak Forest Police “looking for advice with a theft that had occurred within the Oak Forest Raider football organization,” according to the police report.
